There are three levels in image analysis, Classification, Detection and Segmentation. Image segmentation is the division of an image into regions or categories. The goal of segmentation is to simplify and/or change the representation of an image into something that is more meaningful and easier to analyze. Semantic segmentation describes the process of associating each pixel of an image with a class label. Semantic segmentation achieves fine-grained inference by making dense predictions inferring labels for every pixel, so that each pixel is labelled with the class of its enclosing object ore region.
